TIME ZONE
Genoa is located in the GMT +1 time zone.
WEATHER
The climate in Genoa is mild all the year round and October is usually warm (24° Celsius) but may be rainy.

EXCHANGE
Automatic exchange machines are located at the airport and at most important banks.
There are two non-stop exchange shops located in Piazza De Ferrari and in Via San Lorenzo.
BANKS
Opening hours are:
- form Monday to Friday: 8.30 to 13.00; 14.30 to 16.00
- Saturday and Sunday: closed
Commissions may be charged on for foreign transaction and passport will be required as proof of identity.
The city is well supplied with cash dispensers which take most major credit card.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
The electricity current is 220V – 50 Hz. Please note that adaptors may be necessary (the sockets are for plugs with two or three round pins in a row).

SHOPPING
Genoa is well known for its beautiful shops where you can find offers for every taste and purse.
Department stores are usually open from 10.00 to 19.30 Monday to Saturday; closed on Monday morning and Sunday.
Food shops are closed on Wednesday afternoon
TAXES
Most goods and services are subject to 20%VAT. Such a tax is usually included in the selling price or bill.

GETTING AROUND
The Genoa transport system is run by AMT, the only city bus and underground company. Bus stops list full details of the routes they serve. Buses usually run from about 5 a.m. to midnight and there is a reduced night service all night long through the main city direction east-west. Public transport tickets are available from tabacchi and newspaper stands and are valid on buses, all the city’s funiculars and lifts, the expanding metro system which serves the suburban commuter belt, and local trains between Voltri and Nervi. www.amt.genova.it
